The Cholka-sum project was launched in 1999 at the behest of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. This ambitious project aims to compile and publish under one cover the histories of all regions and sub-regions of Tibet – comprising U-Tsang, Kham and Amdo. Though much has been written about Tibetan history and culture, this information is yet to be comprehensively gathered together. The Cholka-sum endeavor presents a complex and difficult task. Nonetheless, the library is confident of its role and remains committed to this invaluable long-term project.
